BC Rivers Day Field Trips
Volcanoes, Floods, Landslides & Salmon!
Sunday, September 24, 2017. Join us for a guided tour in the Upper Lillooet River valley. We will visit Mount Meager landslide, the largest ever recorded in Canada! We may even see the volcanic fumaroles smoking and talk about this incredible history. We will check out one of the largest fires ever recorded in the Coast mountains and we will talk about the role of fire in our landscape. Finally, we will tour a significant salmon restoration project in Alena Creek, right at the base of the landslide. This is a family friendly tour! Meet at the Community Barn at 10am. We will convoy to the site, which takes approximately 1 hour. The road is gravel and flat. Bring a lunch. We will be back in town at approximately 2 pm.
Thank-you to the 107 participants who made the trek out to Meager Mountain on Sunday to celebrate BC Rivers Day with Stewardship Pemberton!
